My inspiration stems entirely from the tea party scene in the animated Alice in Wonderland. The goal is brightly colored coordinating chaos.
To take the idea one step further the wedding and reception are built around a garden party theme. We were unable to find a suitable venue in Grand Rapids and were forced to venture elsewhere. We decided on the Grand Pavilion at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
The Grand Hotel has a very dear place in my heart and I couldn't imagine my wedding anywhere else. The whole island but especially the hotel just radiates romance and magic.
The space we are using completely embodies the outdoor colorful party I have always dreamed of, but, indoors! The carpeting is floral and the walls are rich coral pink. The ceiling is Tiffany blue, accented by sunshine yellow glass umbrella chandeliers with hanging Swarovski raindrops. Centerpieces will be strictly candles because of the overwhelming color in the room. Guests will be served fudge and not cake.
The last piece to fit into place is my gown. I am wearing a ballet/tea length rich caramel color dress with ivory accents.
Jon and I are truly the unconventional Bride and Groom, and everything about our wedding expresses that.

The scene sounds serene except maybe the fudge instead of cake. The wedding and reception sound memorable, fun and enjoyable for all that make the trek! It sounds like the fairytale dream of a wedding that everyone would want! The picture of the hotel bekons the guest to an absolutely enjoyable and relaxing weekend!
